I did this study years ago but had many questions this week because Grayscale is coming out with a new fund looking at smart contract platforms, which sounds really cool.

Before the public can even buy or see a ticker like GBTC or something else, there is a private placement. This is where the accredited investors - the rich people - get an allocation and a public quotation on the secondary market. After that, they do the SEC reporting when it converts into an ETF, a trust, or whatever else. Finally, the plebeians like us buy.
The question is whether we should buy early or not at all.
